ACTIONS

After an emergency meeting in December 2016 in response to the alarming rate of black lesbian and trans womxn murders in South Africa, members of the LGBTI+ community have come together from various NGO and activist backgrounds to debate and strategise new ways of organising.

Masithandane's approach is to workshop issues within the LGBTI+ community through facilitated workshops and strategy sessions, interspersed with direct actions in communities where members have been killed or threatened.

Masithandane works with local LGBTI+ organisations – offering support, facilitating needed services, approaching local police officials and visiting local shebeens, churches and shopping centres.

Our members include pastors, activists, artists, members from other NGOs, academics, and other LGBTI+ related services and interests.
